you also don't have to worry about height clearance and insulation as these down lights don't get hot.

The company was called Enviro Lite I believe, and have fit out alot of 7 elevens and optus stores with this sort of lighting
Plasma lights are also dimmable, I think we used universal dimmers

This link that Crispy posted is very similar to what I worked with http://www.cubicsolutions.com.au/ind...d=84&Itemid=70

I know this is an old thread but have just had a little play with a pierlite starburst LED downlight gimble kit

http://www.pierlite.com/in/16259

I liked it, it is apparently fully dimmable as per

http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6175

Unfortunately i had it next to a 35w halogen which looks kinda yellow, and my wife does not like white light - so i told her to buy a lamp

Heat output after a few minutes was not anything like a normal dichroic, was just as bright/a little bit brighter than the normal 35w and runs at a whopping 16w total!
This would make my lounge go from 400w total to 60w total and i can run the suckers on cbus.

Currently the only downside is the apparent $130 price tag.....

Hi Guys

I installed 2 Alphalux 9w downlights in the bathroom and im quite impressed with the light output.....Its a really white light unlike the normal low voltage downlights.....They appear to work ok on Clipsal Dimmers....Just a pity they not a bit cheaper ($89.00)....Heres a link to the fitting

I want to try the osram lux points sometime! Going to have to be in my own place though.. Pretty hard to sell LED's to most customers!

FrankMc,
I'm surprised to see my website mentioned here,
I see Alphalux, LuxPoint Minis,Starbursts & Envirolites, all of which come at a hefty price tag & difficult to sell to the end user. Even more difficult to make a few dollars out of.
Big tip; If you don't need dimming go with a GU10 base, no tranny loss (4 watts) no tranny heat,no tranny in insulwool, simple install. If you add the price of a GU10 holder & Coolmax globe it is cheaper to go retrofit GU10 than try to sell integrated downlight kits. Integrated downlights come into their own in a dimming situation, where the controller, running gear & LED light are all designed to work together.
